The April 30 and May 29 events will help displaced federal workers and contractors prepare for new careers and access services and benefits to support them during their job search.
OLYMPIA, Wash., – The Washington Workforce Association (WWA), comprised of 12 state Local Workforce Development Boards, is partnering with the Employment Security Department, Washington Health Benefit Exchange, the Washington State Labor Council, Washington State Community and Technical Colleges, to host two additional statewide re-employment events on April 30 and May 29.
The events aim to assist federal employees and contractors impacted by recent layoffs, including those affected by federal funding reductions. Participants will learn about resources for services and benefits, like unemployment and health insurance, to support them as they seek new career opportunities. They will also receive tips and tools to gain employment in their communities.
“It’s a difficult and uncertain time for many workers and employers right now. Between the federal layoffs and tariffs in our trade-dependent state, the goal of these presentations is to lend the expertise of Local Boards to guide federal workers and contractors to services and programs that bridge the gap between jobs and set them up for long-term success,” said John Traugott, executive director for WWA. “Working alongside our state agency partners, we will provide practical and timely information and resources for those feeling the financial and emotional burden of sudden unemployment.”

- April 30, 2025: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. PDT
